Henry Ford Health virtual musculoskeletal care program improves outcomes and reduces costs
Henry Ford Health’s virtual musculoskeletal (MSK) care program, delivered via Protera Health to Medicare Advantage members, significantly improves outcomes while reducing costs. MSK-related expenses dropped from $347 to $149 per member per month, generating $8,652 in annual savings per member. Participants reported 27% less pain, with 85% achieving meaningful functional improvements and satisfaction scores averaging 9.2/10. Depressive symptoms decreased by 36% and anxiety by 25%, with 94% improving in at least one health metric. Specialist assessments are available within 24–48 hours. The program’s success under a value-based contract has prompted exploration of scaling to other chronic conditions.
Baptist Health integrates Vega Health AI platform to scale initiatives, starting with Hospital at Home patient selection
Baptist Health, one of Florida’s largest health systems, is integrating Vega Health’s AI infrastructure platform to scale initiatives, starting with Hospital at Home. The AI-driven patient screening tool uses LLM technology to search EHRs against clinical criteria, automatically identifying eligible patients. Co-designed with clinicians and validated for Baptist’s population, the platform operates within the health system’s secure environment. By automating manual chart reviews, it accelerates patient transfer from inpatient beds to home, freeing capacity. Next steps include expanding to readmission risk prediction and surgical complication forecasting.
Birmingham trusts launch InterSystems shared patient portal
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health and Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trusts launched a shared patient portal using InterSystems Personal Community, integrated with the existing shared care record. Patients access appointment information, clinical letters, care plans, medication, and ECG data via one interface, authenticating through NHS Login. The portal recorded 30,134 registrations, with 30 new registrations daily on average. Clinicians continue recording care through the shared infrastructure, while selected information is exposed to patients. Reusing existing infrastructure reduced complexity and governance risk. Future phases may add laboratory results and questionnaires.
