## **************Arkansas Children’s uses telemedicine to provide much-needed cardiac MRIs and CTs**************

Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH, Little Rock) implemented a tele-operations model so expert cardiac MRI/CT technologists and faculty could remotely set up sequences, supervise acquisitions and perform post-processing for patients imaged at Arkansas Children’s Northwest (ACNW, Springdale). Local ACNW nurses and technologists manage IVs, positioning and contrast administration while ACH teams remotely configure scanners and oversee image quality, with ACH cardiovascular imaging faculty interpreting the studies. The program, built on Philips’ Radiology Operations Command Center, launched in mid-2024 after extensive testing and team training. In its first year the service completed ≈41 cardiac MRIs and 32 cardiac CTs at ACNW, creating new local access without reducing ACH volumes; combined system demand continued to grow. Waitlists expanded at ACNW to ~5 months (MRI) and ~3 months (CT), reflecting pent-up demand now captured locally. Leaders highlight success factors: high-performance team dynamics, trust and preparation; dedicated IT support; and continuous optimization/troubleshooting across linked, complex systems. The service reduced travel burdens (previously six-hour round-trips) and enabled standard-of-care follow-up for patients who otherwise deferred imaging, demonstrating clear operational and equity impacts with strong clinician involvement and replicability for other multi-site pediatric programs.
